Our Headteacher

Maryland is well known locally and increasingly, nationally & internationally due to our inspiring Headteacher. In 2022, Mrs Jackson was awarded an MBE for services to education in the Platinum Jubilee Honours List. She was also invited by Buckingham Palace to attend the Queen’sState Funeral.  Then in December 2022, she was awarded the Freedom of the Borough of Newham  for services to education and racial equality.

Newham’s mayor, Rokhsana Fiaz gave a speech at the awards ceremony outlining some of her contributions to Newham as  the longest serving teacher and headteacher in Newham (almost 44 years) and possibly in the country. She praised Mrs.Jackson for her work on equality education and described her as ‘awesome and incredible’.
